 Sacrificial Anode Specifications

Aluminum alloy anodes are generally preferred due to their high electrochemical performance and cost effectiveness when compared against zinc alloy anodes.
SYNCOR anodes are manufactured from primary metals of high purity, and are homogenized in large scale melting furnaces.
The SYNCOR Aluminum alloy can exceed the capacity of 2600Ah/kg in seawater environments with resistivity at 25Ohm-cm and potential at -1100mV, with respect to the Ag/AgCl reference.
The SY642 alloy is recommended by our engineers for application in deepwater projects and for applications that involve elevated temperatures.
The SY842 alloy has exhibited high performance in offshore industry applications. It is generally used for the protection of offshore structures that are installed in low temperature and deep water (up to 200m) environments.
The SY1232 is recommended for the shipping industry where water conditions and temperatures vary among the continents.
Our alloys are chemically tested prior to casting, in our chemical laboratories, by a highly accurate emission spectrometer to verify that the chemical analyses of the produced alloy conform to the project’s specifications. In our electrochemical laboratories we conduct 4-day and 10-day tests at every 10t of alloys produced. Ongoing research is conducted on current and new alloys in order to improve the performance of our existing anodes and develop new alloys for specific environments, such as deepwater and elevated temperatures.
